Sustainable procurement is how Bnode promotes responsible practices across its supply chain. We source products and services with sustainability in mind, while building strong, long-term relationships with our suppliers.
Our Sustainable Procurement Programme helps reduce environmental impact and strengthen social responsibility at every stage: from supplier selection and contracting to performance evaluation.
What we expect from suppliers
Our suppliers are essential to delivering on our sustainability ambitions. We aim to work with partners who share our values and are ready to make progress with us. To this end, we expect our suppliers to:
Sign our Supplier Code of Conduct
Bnode’s Supplier Code of Conduct sets out our sustainability expectations across environmental, social and governance topics.
We systematically include the Code in our request-for-proposal processes across multiple entities, helping ensure that sustainability is considered from the start of every supplier relationship.
Work with us to reduce emissions
We expect suppliers to disclose their greenhouse-gas emissions and the actions they are taking to reduce them.
We also encourage suppliers to commit to net-zero targets aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) or an equivalent framework. Over time, we aim to prioritize partnerships with suppliers that lead on carbon reduction and transparent reporting.

Demonstrate sustainability performance
We ask key suppliers to register with EcoVadis and share their scorecard with us, or to propose an equivalent assessment.
These independent assessments help us better understand suppliers’ sustainability performance, identify areas for improvement, and support progress over time.
How we put sustainable procurement into practice
Our programme focuses on 2 priorities:
Reducing Scope 3 emissions
Indirect emissions from our suppliers represent the largest share of Bnode’s carbon footprint. That is why we launched a dedicated procurement programme to support our Scope 3 decarbonization journey.
The programme is built around 3 pillars.
Pillar 1: Selecting suppliers with sustainability in mind
We are strengthening the implementation of our Supplier Code of Conduct across Bnode’s supplier base.
We are also developing a Supplier Selection Framework that will define ESG criteria for tenders, requests for proposal and contracts.
By including environmental criteria earlier in the procurement process and engaging suppliers throughout the relationship, we support Bnode’s ambition to reduce Scope 3 emissions by 38.2% by 2035.
Pillar 2: Improving supplier data
Reliable data is the foundation of meaningful climate action.
Since launching our Scope 3 decarbonisation programme in 2024, we have moved from a spend-based data model to a hybrid approach. This combines spend-based, volume-based and supplier- or product-specific data.
The result is a more accurate picture of emissions from Purchased Goods and Services and Capital Goods. Moving beyond industry-wide averages towards supplier- and product-specific emission factors helps us build a realistic long-term roadmap and work more effectively with our suppliers.
Pillar 3: Activating suppliers
Reducing Scope 3 emissions requires collaboration across the value chain. In 2025, we began building a more collaborative approach to help suppliers move forward in their climate transition.
Our focus is on building knowledge, sharing practical experience and creating momentum around net-zero ambitions.
3 initiatives marked this first phase:
- Carbon Coach Project: helping small and medium-sized suppliers with lower carbon maturity take their first steps towards climate action;
- Centre of Excellence on Transport: integrating decarbonization into a platform for knowledge-sharing and supplier engagement;
- The Shift’s Journey to Net Zero Community of Practice: working with peers to strengthen supplier mobilization strategies.
Together, these initiatives reflect our commitment to helping suppliers accelerate the transition to a lower-carbon future.
Managing sustainability risks
Bnode recognizes the importance of identifying and addressing sustainability risks throughout its supply chain.
Suppliers are expected to align with our values by signing the Supplier Code of Conduct . We use EcoVadis as our primary tool to assess sustainability risks and guide action.
Identifying risks
EcoVadis helps us assess potential risks across procurement categories, including environmental impacts, human-rights concerns and ethical issues. It also enables us to review supplier performance and sustainability practices over time.
Taking action
We use insights from these assessments to prioritize risks and develop appropriate mitigation plans with suppliers.
Raising concerns
Suppliers can use our Speak Up tool to report actual or potential breaches of our Code of Conduct or other internal policies.
We encourage everyone working for Bnode’s contractors, subcontractors or suppliers to raise concerns about practices that may conflict with our principles or compliance standards. Reports can be made safely, confidentially and transparently.
Due diligence
Sustainability regulation is evolving, and procurement has an important role to play in supporting compliance and reporting requirements.
The EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive reinforces the need for companies to identify, prevent, mitigate and report on environmental and human-rights impacts across their operations and value chains.
Bnode is building on its existing policies and processes to develop a comprehensive sustainability due diligence framework. This will help us better identify, prevent, monitor and report on sustainability impacts throughout our supply chain.
